Of a halloween.

mood: happy
movies watched the past week: wicker park; legally blonde; jesus christ superstar (theatre version); ocean's eleven; a man called hero; chasing liberty; dying young; bachelorman; the prince of egypt; anastasia; gone with the wind; pit fighter; superman; the legend of zorro; adventures of sharkboy and lavagirl; moulin rouge; the bodyguard

I had two events for the past few days.

The first one is the Php Halloween Ball held at the Hard Rock Cafe last Saturday. It was fun. Cessie and I almost won the acting contest. I think the people doesn't really want to see seriousness on the stage. Congratulations to fafa Beejay for the Best Costume Grand Prize.

And yesterday we (some Php pips) gatecrashed a SWP event. Meann said that as long as we have our robes on we can enter the event without any problems. So we did. Thanks to the SWP pips for the free billiards!

Happy Halloween!

Of a day.

mood: undescribable

Before proceeding with the sample jologs questions, I just want to rant on something.

Please listen to the two sides of the coin before reacting.
Please remember that most of you doesn't really know me. I don't really care on how you react on things. This is just a reminder.
I'm telling you that I'm an open-minded person. Please tell me directly things that you hate or what you don't like about me. It would be better this way.
I just hate it when I'm the last one to know about things that should be kept private.

To the readers, please don't react on this one.

Anyway, on with the test? quiz? whatever...

Okay, the quiz goes on like this: 10 questions per week. All the ten questions will be posted on a Sunday or on a Monday. Last day of submission of answers will fall on a Saturday. Answers from the previous week will be posted with the new set of questions. All answers should be sent to my email address: targrod@gmail.com. If it bounces, just tell me right away (you can post it here on my blog, you can text me, you can call me at my house, you can send a snail mail, you can just go out of your house and shout "Jay-r!!!! Na-send ko na!!!!!!!!!!").

If you have any quetions, reactions, comments, negative vibrations, angal sa pagtaas ng gas, palm-reading, dream interpretations... dial 1-800-WALA-AKONG-PAKI. Okay? Or you can just post it here on my blog.

Sample questions (super easy questions, that anybody can perfect it):
1. What was the first hit song of Manilyn Reynes?
2. Name any one of the Gwapings.
3. Who was the love team of Jestoni Alarcon?

You just can't please everybody...

Of an idea.

mood: happy, extremely

I just came up with an idea. To make my blog less interesting (it was wwaaayyy less interesting), i'll place a contest in my blog weekly.

It goes like this, as a true green-blooded jologs person i'll place ten questions every week regarding jolog-ism. It doesn't necessary mean that the items are super-jologs-or-not but most of the questions are. The day would start every Sunday or Monday and end on a Saturday.

Determining the winner: Simple, the person who answerst the questions completely and gives the answers to me the fastest wins.

Prize: You get a free bati in my site. Actually, I am still thinking about this. But one idea came into my mind. You get a free audio cd from me. You have to get it on my list that i'll be sending on your mail.

Now. Who wants to join? If nobody is interested then i'll scrap this na lang.

"You don't fall in love because you fall in love; you fall in love because of the need, to fall in love. When you feel that need, you have to watch your step; like having drunk a philter, the find that makes you fall in love with that first thing that you meet. it could be a duck-billed platypus." - Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum

10.25.2005

Of a father's birthday.

mood: drunk
movies watched the past week: the mummy retuns; corpse bride; the last castle; may; serendipity; alice in wonderland; nick of time; patriot games; lord of war; star wars ep. 2: attack of the clones; pay it forward; doom

My mom would always tell me: Alam mo ba nung ganito ganyan "insert story here". Wala ka pa nun. Nasa dulo ka pa lang ng patpat...

All these years I thought that this was just a long-standing hirit by my mother.

I'm used to her useless answers especially when I ask a lot of questions, example:
Me: Ma, bakit kayo aalis?
Mama: Kasi "insert reason here"
Me: Bakit?
Mama: Kasi nga "insert reason here"
Me: Bakit?
Mama: E bakit ba ang kulit kulit mo?
Me: Bakit?
Mama: Dahil sa ukit.
Conversation stops.

Moving on I just recently found the answer to that patpat hirit. I won't bother explaining here what it means. You just have to be an open-minded person to identify the truth.

Anyways, Happy Birthday to my wonderful papa. May you have more birthdays to come (eh?)!

And that unexpected visit really surprised me.

Mothers knows best. Really. But not all the time.

Of a Komikon 2005 happening.

mood: sleepy
movies watched the past week: the mummy returns; corpse bride; the last castle; may; serendipity; alice in wonderland; nick of time; patriot games; lord of war; star wars ep. 2: attack of the clones; pay it forward; doom

Went to U.P. Bahay Ng Alumni last Saturday for the annual Komikon (-vention?). As usual, I went there to support Beerkada and the Artists' Den.

I’m sorry to the Beerkada pips if I wasn’t able to help out with the booth. I’m busy with some parts of my life and I have things to do first and I have so many alibi that I should stop now. Ika nga sa isang kasabihan “Pag puwede maraming paraan, pag ayaw maraming dahilan”. There. I really hope you guys understand.

I could say that the place was somehow full packed even though that it took place at U.P. I’m quite used to the Megamall Mega Trade Hall experience. Where people do really rub elbows. I wonder why Komikon is in U.P. this year…

Okay. I’m sorry to L if I’m not sure if I would still get that boxed set that I reserved from him. You see, I won a Beerkada boxed set courtesy of Ingkang Jinky’s contest. I really thought that I won’t win that contest but to my surprise I got the third place… err… third prize… err… whatever. There were three boxed sets up for grabs and I got the third one. I would like to add more reactions and comments from this boxed set experience but I wouldn’t dare to write it here. Now, regarding that reservation. I’m not so sure if I would still get it. I have to ask my confidante.

This is the first time I’ve seen Manix, the Kiko Machine guy. It was quite un-expecting for me to see this guy because he doesn’t look like the person who would make such comic. And he looks like someone from DLSU.

I also got some of Lico’s products. I’ve read his stuff and I would join his group (e-group that is… oh my, I sound like Yoda here… wait… what if Yoda is voiced by Imao? that old dude from the Encantadia fame… that’s nice).

And shout-outs to all the beerkadets and the Artists’ Den pips that were there, you know who you are.

After the event, the B-sisters and I went to watch Doom at Robinson’s Gale. The movie contains a lot of gore. Yes, gore. I found the gore acceptable in my own point of view. Meaning I wasn’t grossed out. The movie is quite interesting even though that the story is recycled. There was even a part ala-fps (first person shooting) mode wherein you’d be the hero of the movie. It was unexpected but cute. I find The Rock’s persona stupid. He doesn’t seem to have that kind of logic even though he was given a command post for his group. And one more reaction, why is it that the movie has the title Doom? How come there are references to the Quake game. For instance, The Rock used a BFG (Big F**king Gun) in a certain part of the movie. As far as I can remember, there’s no BFG in Doom. Anyway, cross-reference or not, the movie is quite exciting somehow. Why? I didn’t fell asleep.

Oh. The B-sisters kept on giggling on that Chicken Little guy. Gosh.

Of a-reminiscin' III

mood: barely awake

Since I still have nothing to write in my blog at the present, i'm going to my past.

Do you remember:
> Play-doh clay and caboodle toys - regarding caboodle toys, i can only remember freebies of these from the hotdog packages.
> Aratilis tree - I would remember that these trees or some of them would be made as a tambayan. It is fun to pick aratilis fruits from their trees.
> Haybol Rambol and Kate and Boogie - Channel 7 shows. Haybol Rambol star Benjie Paras while Kate and Boogie stars Dennis Padilla and I forgot the name of the girl.
> Multi-sided two pesos coin - I forgot if its sides are hexagonal or octagonal.
> The famous Family Computer - Oh yes, computer games were quite simpler during those times.

I found the reason for that ACHE that I had a few days ago. It's not nice.

Do you really have to do that?

10.20.2005

Of a lanzones experience.

mood: ngasab

I've been eating lanzones for the past month. And i've been eating it everyday. I just love fruits. I love food. I love anything edible.

Okay.

Of things and tats.

mood: k lang

What makes the world go round?
What inspires you?
What moves you?
What is one thing in your life that you can't live without?
What is your most happiest moment?
What makes you a better person?
What makes you complete?
What is it in this world that makes us whole?

Why the hell am I asking these questions?

I don't know.

mood: heh!
movies watched last week: the breakfast club; ben-hur; national lampoon's animal house; ju-on; the musketeer; what lies beneath; fantasia 2000; finding forrester; ju-on: the grudge; tomb raider; ju-on: the grudge 2; prince valiant; tango and cash; scooby doo 2: monsters unleashed; the green mile

Just watched Serendipity... Fuck. Hehe. Nice movie. Really.

I haven't had any thing in my life interesting lately. As you may have noticed. I write less. I think less. Buti na lang hindi ako naging pay less. Nye!

I will be at U.P. Bahay ng Alumni this coming Saturday. There'll be a Comicon event. Actually, i'm not so sure if the event will take place there. Usually they use the Mega Trade Hall grounds. I'm going to verify this so that I wouldn't look stupid if I ask people about this event.

We are laying here because you don't want me to stand somewhere else. - Serendipity

Of a idonotknowwhattopostagain.

mood: so-so

I’m shooting blanks right now inside my head.

I have this thing that I know what I would do about everything but I know it will mess up in the end. I’m trying to be optimistic most of the time but the pessimism kicks in more often than I could handle.

I wish I could change things around me but I know I can’t. It’s not that I could have done something before but change in it is just impossible.

I just don’t get myself sometimes. I’m trying to get it but I don’t.

I know I’m not making any sense here but who cares?

Of a mother and son session.

mood: happy

Usually when I go to work, I bring my mother along with me along with the car because my mom needs guidance (long story) when going to work. And when we have a road trip we usually have the usually mother and son conversations. Here's the usual convie (as in today):

Uno:
Crash Test Dummies' Mmm Mmm Mmm starts to play.
Me: "Ma, maganda itong kantang ito!"
Mama: "Ano yan?"
Me: "Basta maganda na yan. Luma na yan."
Music starts...
Mama: "Pangit naman."
Me: "Basta maganda yan. Hintayin nyo yung chorus!"
Enter chorus...
Me: "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm..."
Mama: ",,," Continues with her rosary prayer...
Me: Laughing.

Dos:
As part of our morning diet when going to work, we usually listen to Chic and Del's conversation. I forgot the Hot Ten topic and I could only remember one of the answers. It deals about depression on controlling things.
Anyhows, my mom started the convie again:
Mama: "Ganyan talaga pag ang tao depressed. He/she tends to control thing na yung kaya nya lang. Kaya usually naglilinis yan, etc."
Me: "Kaya pala malinis kayo ni Papa."
Mama: "Kaya alam ko din na hindi ka depressed. Ang gulo ng kwarto mo palagi e."

Tres:
After dinner, we had the usual after dinner convie (I think the topic was about having children):
Me: "Alam mo ma, wag muna kayong kabahan. Baka after 8 years pa kayo magka-apo."
Mama: "Aray ko."
Me: *smirk*

So... we should all be happy eh?

10.11.2005

Of a story-telling time.

mood: sentimental

I made a story. Wee!

There was this old man who lived in a shoe. He loves batteries so much that every time he buys one brand of battery only. Then one day, he went to the battery store and looked for his usual battery. To his dismay, he found out that the store is not selling any batteries of that kind of any more. In fact, the production of that battery ceased to exist from that day on. So, the vendor told him to buy a new brand of battery. The old man was hesitant at first but he had no choice (well he had choices but he just chose the one given to him by the vendor instead). At first, the old man didn’t like the battery. In fact, he hated it to its guts. But eventually he liked it or something in that sense. And the batteries and the shoe house and the old man lived happily ever after. That includes the ducks, the bees, the rhinoceros, the duck-billed platypus, and the now extinct dodo. And don’t forget the Yakult vendor, the Tukneneng vendor, and the Electrolux salesman.

So, what’s the moral of the story? Never attempt to make a story out of nowhere it makes this blog ridiculous.

Just finished reading Robert Ludlum’s Apocalypse Watch (the same author of the Bourne series). It was a long but nice Nazi book.

In addition, here’s an excerpt of a typical Trinidad family dinner:

We were eating and everything about Gateway Cubao came up. Eventually it led to the topic of movies at Gateway.
Papa: “Minsan nanood ako dyan ng sine sa Gateway…”
Me: Butting in “May 300 pesos na sine dyan.”
Papa: “Hindi, mas mura dyan. 120 pesos…”
Me: “Farmer? Anong farmer? Siguro ang theme song nung movie yung ‘Magtanim ay di biro’.”
Mama: “Mali. English yung movie. Dapat planting rice…”
Me: “Pwede din yung butter-butterfly…”
Papa: “Yung movie kasi nangyari sa may Uganda (or Rwanda I can’t remember exactly).”
Me: “Baka yan yung Hotel Rwanda…”
Papa: “…”
Me: “Alam ko na!!!! The Constant Gardener!!!!!”
Mama and me laughed…

Everybody needs to be loved sometime (or forever, whatever you like).

10.10.2005

Of a disastrous entry.

mood: woah!

I believe that the recent disasters in the world are caused by bad karma. Take New Orleans for instance. Or better yet the United States of America. Look what has happened to them. A very bad series of natural disasters hit them when they were not ready. Especially the first hard-hitter that took New Orleans in despair. Okay, what famous activity takes place in New Orleans? Mardi Gras. I think that answers my own question. In addition, U.S.A.'s recent disasters, remember Iraq's long-term invasion by the Americans? I rest my case.

Around thirty thousand or more people are killed by a monstrous earthquake, which came out of nowhere. Mostly Asian countries like Pakistan and India. How about these countries? They are war stricken. They have these nuclear devices. Thank nature for that.

So, what's next? North Korea?

Looks like The Philippines is in line too. Have you ever been to Boracay during the holy week? Heh. I hope i'm wrong.

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands.

Of a few thoughts IX.

mood: worried
movies watched the past week: final fantasy vii: advent children; bad trip; rain man; tarzan (1999); boat trip; he was cool; d-tox; the fox and the hound; red water; bedknobs and broomsticks; fantasia; platoon; schindler's list; ju-on; elf; the 40 year-old virgin; princes mononoke; the beatles' yellow submarine; casablanca; the jungle book; lost reality 2

Okay. The mobile networks should shape up their system. My God, i received a 2pm sms at 11 in the evening. What if somebody sent me an emergency sms and I got it late? I just hope the problem is with the network and not with my cellphone.

I've been somehow addicted to this game lately. Urban Dead. Look for Targrod and Bulalohan.

I've made it. Twenty movies in a week. Ain't it nice.

Looks like i'm going to play badminton tomorrow with coms. I have to do some real stretching first before the game. I might have some hamstring problems again.

I don't think that there's anything worse than being ordinary - American Beauty.

Of a movie day/s.

mood: happy

Thank God I had a series of good movies lately. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Rain Man. Platoon. Schindler's List... and the latest, The 40-year old Virgin.

That virgin movie is really hilarious. Even though that the plot is not deep it gave the audience a good dosage of laughter. From the start to the end was enlightening for the movie goer. So, what are you waiting for? Watch Paul Rudd's ass now!

I think this is the week where I would finally have watched 20 movies. And I would just tell myself "Get a life.".

Don't let this end Lord...

Of a few thoughts VIII.

mood: happy
movies watched last week: lilo and stitch; amadeus; american beauty; kiki’s delivery service; clear and present danger; reality bites; mr. holland’s opus; tequila express; one flew over the cuckoo’s nest; spirit warriors: the shortcut; dark water; the emperor’s new groove; dorm daze

Okay. My life’s not entirely exciting lately. I accept that. Maybe, that’s how the circle of life grows on me. I miss the time when I’m anticipating something or even expecting.

Honestly, I am excited with a few things in my life that I wouldn’t ponder. I’m just enjoying it for the moment. I believe it is better this way or is it? I really don’t know.

Moving on. I passed by Cubao’s Gateway (I call this place Galaxy and I do not know why) and there was crowd near circling the Pizza Hut area. I was wondering what’s the fuzz in that area. I didn’t really care if whoever was there. So, when I finally talked to my mom about this she told me that the newly crowned Miss International is in the area. And I didn’t really care. Pity to the entire star struck (not the tv show) crowd. I really just don’t get it sometimes. Do we really need to crowd the area for these people? I know she’s the new Miss International but… I just can’t explain. Maybe, we all have our own tastes on being star struck to certain celebrities.

I noticed that MRT changed its fare rates recently. I’m not sure if they still offer the Php 9.50 rates. I think that is a wise decision for them in expense of the riding public. Imagine, if I buy a 100 peso stored value ticket and rode certain stations that costs 10 pesos nine times and the 10th ride costs Php9.50. So, I should still have a 50-centavo for my stored value ticket. Now, it is different. One-peso intervals have been made. Too bad.

Of a weekend that was.

mood: simply happy

Haven't thought of anything to write lately. There are a couple but I'm still preparing them. Wait. I'm a liar. My head's blank right now.

I've seen 6 movies today. How about you?
