~ Tunayna Tunayn ~

The best time to write something personally efficient is your most convenient time of the day. For me, it has always been the wee hours of the morning. Despite me wearing some droopy eyes for the moment, I have to finish this one.

As Mister Procree Procrastination knocks on my back door.

Whatever that is.

For this year, I told myself that I should do something fairly different. All these years, I’ve been mukmuk-ing at home. As in year after year, it was sort of a vicious cycle of two years of mukmuk-ing and then getting a driver’s license. It felt like it ran for six years already.

And I just told myself to stop doing the same shit year after year.

So, for this year, I originally planned to go on a “backpacking” trip to the Quezon province. Asking my trusty consultant, that’s my mom for the incoherent in you, she told me that politics is bad in that area and I should stay home.

In fairness, she filed a sick leave and cooked morcon for me, which made me speechless. Thanks mom!

Going forward, I only had five days left for my so-called solo trip. And Mister Idea pooped este popped up and informed me that I should just do a quick tour… maybe in Corregidor.

And guess what? I did, I did do… do did… uhm… hhhmm… I opted to do the Corregidor Day Tour. It was fairly easy; I called up Sun Cruises, Inc. I paid two kiyaw via their BDO account and obviously, I asked first if they had an available trip last Friday. I ended up with the second trip, the 11 AM trip.

Here’s a minor pet peeve: if you know that the trip is 11 AM and you would just end up late, then that is just stupid and fucking stupid at the same time. I’m not making a big deal out of this, but still, we could’ve been early at that time.

It took us around an hour and a half for the sea trip. It was awesome because they were showing Titanic. Tangina joke lang. It could’ve been the saddest day of the year if that happened. Pakyu Leo and Cameron.

Once you get there, you ride this bus/jeep to the hotel. The best thing to do at this time of hour is to just chill. You can take a few pictures at the port and that should be it. Why? During the day tour itself, you’ll get to have a few minutes for the “most important” places in the island. Once you arrive in the hotel, you get to eat the food ala buffet.

I guess this is the only sucky part of the trip since I went alone and I had no one to make bantay my things but it was all cool actually since who would make pakelam my bad? No one of course; I look like a hampas-lupa, imho.

Oh, bring your own drinks. Do a computation for this one; a can of coke consists of sixty bucks each. Again, do the math.

Lunch felt like it took around thirty to forty five minutes. You have to be aware that you are in a day tour, if ever you’ll avail it.

First stop is the museum and the Pacific War Memorial. Our tour guide informed us that once a year something special happens there. Edward Cullen shines in that area. Seriously.

Then, the actual tour starts with the middle something something of the island and then the top part of the island. What to expect with the tour: you’ll get to see the different rubbles of the barracks and other buildings, awesome guns, cemetery, a lighthouse, makahiya and monkeys! Yes, you’ll see Mojo Jojo in that area. He’s not actually keen in taking over the world but you get the idea.

It’ll be nice if you see two monkeys and Ruffa Gutierrez’s mother side by side by side. Go figure.

And then, for a hundred and fifty bucks, you’ll get to pass through the Malinta Tunnel. They have this light and sound show. Again, you shouldn’t expect much in this show and instead try to be a true blue Filipino and listen and feel the show because what you’ll experience in that demonstration is the life of people during the war.

After the Malinta trip, you’ll proceed back to the ferry.

Now, I’m not actually good with history but I’m interested with our history. I believe that this is a good trip for us Filipinos. The feeling of happiness, due to the trip, and sadness, due to the history, is overwhelming. I was on the verge of crying every time I hear the words genocide, dead, and death.

I don’t know. Maybe it was just me. And maybe, it was the love for this country.

--=+=--

Yes, I spent my 29th birthday alone on a supposedly grim island. It was all worth it.

And I’d like to thank all the people who greeted me via the radio, tweeter, SMS, facebook, plurk, e-mail, and personally (may nakalimutan ba ko?). You guys made my supposedly ordinary day extraordinary. This one’s for the books and I won’t forget it.

= DAY 04 – A SONG THAT MAKES YOU SAD =

This is the only song that makes me teary-eyed whenever I hear the “parent” part.

I love the message of this song.

I’m a sucker.

~ Day Tri ~

= DAY 03 – A SONG THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY =

I originally thought of Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles but I ended up using this one due to some issues with pop and unknowns in this country. I opted for the latter.

I also thought of Tanya Markova’s Picture Picture but the video below outweighs Picture Picture.

So There.

~ Day Tu ~

= Day 02 - YOUR LEAST FAVORITE SONG =

I hate this group.

No, really. I just can't find it in my heart to say, "this group is uber-awesome." The moment I hear this every time someone sings this videoke-ally. I immediately think of dark thoughts, I try to think on how many ways I can kill the songer with the use of the materials around me.

Such pleasure.

= Day 01 - YOUR FAVORITE SONG =

I am such a sucker for "rap" lyric-ized songs and every time I hear this. It makes my heart go goo goo ga ga. Or something in that sense.

Well, not really.

This is one of my favorite songs. I know it is pop but this is my list. Create your own so that I can judge yours. Right?

[a meme found from love & zombies]

I got this from a friend. I’ll start with this one today; I’ll do it on a separate post.

Because of the first amendment, whatever that is.

~ Kantahang Abril ~

~ Three De ~

I should always remind myself to check on the grade/score/whatnot (I’m missing words right now, I am very sleepy) of a film before I lash out two hundred and fifty bucks. I never knew that watching a 3d film can be both exciting and a let down at the same time.

If I remember it correctly, the last 3d film I saw was The Adventures of Lavaboy and Sharkgirl or whatever the title was. The glasses that we got were a little bit ancient. Do you remember the time where they sell these paper and colored cellophane 3d glasses in the palengke? Yeah, SM gave out those glasses to that Whaleboy film. Come to think of it, the boy in that film looked like a wolf in a very bad film that consists of a bulimic and an anemic.

Lo and behold and thanks to the wonders of the mind of James Cameron (tangina) he was able to reprise the decades old idea of 3d viewing. And every film outfit is joining the freakin’ bandwagon.

So, I was able to grab a few trailers and I was sodomized este awesome’d by the sheer 3d goodness of Shrek four or Shrek 3d or something old, something new from the makers of they-stole-the-color-from-Incredible-Hulk. It was awesome. It is as if the creatures were just right there, in front of you. Yes, even the eyes of Puss and Donkey’s tongue.

Enter Clash Of The Titans film. With my great emancipation este anticipation I waited for around twenty minutes for any awesome 3d scenes. The Olympus scene entered, highly stupid sparkling Zeus scene. Then, the scorpions came, no luck. An obviously CGI-made Medusa scene came, still no luck. And the fuckin’ Kraken scene, Kraken-ng-ina naman, where’s the awesome 3d scene or scenes, if you want to be pluralized about it.

Now, if you remove the 3d glasses, the film would still be useless. With the entire red and blue outline. So, I tried to watch the film in all its 3d glory, or whatever they want to call it.

It was such a let down. We should’ve listened to our co-worker, “mas ok yan sa 2d, pwede nga din sana kung basahin niyo na lang yung script. Ganun din naman.”

--=+=--

Next, wtf-Sam-Worthington. Here’s my take on that man. He is becoming typecast on films. If they are going to do a live version of Ferngully, expect this one folks, they’re going to cast the bida of that film made only for Sam Worthington.

Again. Wtf.

… which brings me to the idea that this year seemed a little bit of mythology, here and there; I swear, mythology is really cool. There are more to Percy Jackson and Clash Of The Titans. I’m just happy that they are trying to revive the wonderful world of old school awesomeness. I do wish people who saw these films would at least try to do a little bit of reading or research. They don’t need to be scholars in the subject; at least a familiarization of the idea is good. I always wanted to do a whole year of mythology reading. I just can’t find the time yet. I’m mytholotired e.

And where’s the freakin’ boob shot? So there.

~ Hhm Weh ~

I saw the word Perth and I immediately looked for its definition in the Internet.

The definition varies from one meaning to another. We have it as the state capital of Western Australia or it is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament.

Warning: an absolutely distasteful pun is up and about.

Now, Perth is actually here. We are in it actually. It is near Pars and the one near it is Pupiter. We have our starting point, calling it Pun (see, I told you there’s a pun in this pun) and near it is Percury.

Then, we have Penus.

Right.

--=+=--

So, keber mo ba kung ano ano mga pinagsusulat ko dito?

You don’t know what keber is?

It is as simple as this. You call out people and create a straight line. Face ninety degrees to the East. Shout “5 4 3 2 1” then you say “KEEEBBBEERR ster.”

Duh.

Ay, wala na kong magawa sa buhay.

~ whip crack ~

So, I saw three instances of butt-cracking viewer ship in a span of > five days.

> five days is less than five days for the nincompoop in you.

And I am sure the word butt-cracking caught your attention. For your sake, here’s more:

BUTT-CRACK
BUTT-CRACKIN’
BUTT-CRACKING
BUTT-KRAKEN

No, really, the butt-crack story is true.

I went to a resto somewhere in the Philippines (someone informed me that I should be surely safe with my blogging, here you are biatch) and the moment we opened the door and entered the premise, there it was, a big butt with a long butt-crack full of glory. I mean come on; you’re in a freakin’ restaurant. I think it is in the handbook of the restaurant guide for your co-passengers este co-eaters that you have to cover any uncompromising view.

To end this in a discriminatory tone, “eh panget naman yung babae, she has no right to show her butt-crack.”

(sabi nga ng friend ko, piggy bank daw yun, dun yung butas para lagayan nung coins. Aba, aba, uso pa pala yung lumang dalawang pisong barya)

The other two butt-crackin’ with whippin’ on the side story is not that important. One gives us a TMZ story of Jennifer Lopez’s butt-crack and the other, a scene in the film City Slickers.

So, that’s butt-crack and lickers in one paragraph. Meyn. Eww.

--=+=--

I ended up doing this shizzit is due to the incorrigible insomnia-tic slap I got and I really can’t sleep. I ended up watching MYX. I was trying to catch a glimpse of the music video of the song Picture Picture and I ended up with MYX’s daily ten.

Shit. Full of K-pop, a Miley, and a Bieber (as one of the MYX DJ’s term Biebericious is not amusing at all). I am just thanking our cable provider that whenever I am “surprised” with the next music video, I can easily change the channel to JACK TV showing me insightful and respectful albeit exaggerated news from TMZ.

Which comes into mind, who’s your favorite TMZ persona or personnel?

(duh. You don’t need to tell me their names. Yung description lang. Except for Harvey Levin.

~ Vote Buying ~

Holy butt Batman, Manny won another ho-hum fight last weekend. It may be his most ho-hum-est fight evah except for one part there where he did some FPJ action with matching pompyang on the side.

I think we’re all aware of his win and everyone seems un-excited about it for obvious reasons.

Then, there’s the excitement last Friday regarding the rain. Man, we need more rain. Really.

And we have the never-ending papansin moment of the Gutierrez family, regarding our local showbiz news. For goodness sakes, (I know someone would react on this shit once again, a Ruffa supporter I presume) can anyone tell me what Ruffa Gutierrez’s talent is? A person has the right to be papansin in showbiz if he or she has the talent. I know that this is a disposable society wherein they throw away minor and full has-beens and all those who stay are real good players, well not all of them though, politics do play a great part in our local showbiz.

So, again, can anyone remind me Ruffa Gutierrez’s real talent aside from uhm… yeah, if she has one?

--=+=--

Now, I have a project. If you’re familiar with 7-11’s Presidential cup voting where you purchase a cup of whatnot and 7-11 considers it as a mock vote from their so-called mock list of presidential candidate race. Or whatever you want to call that shit.

I find this one on a stupid level. Come on. It feels like this is another form of vote buying, but not really. A person can buy five votes just to increase a candidate’s standing.

So, here’s my project. There are fifty-four days left for the upcoming elections. I am going to buy the Perlas votes and I want you to vote for Perlas too.

Currently, he’s at the lowest spot right now at around 854 votes. Our aim is to at least be part of the top five. That’s like the lowest votes for that area is 10,000 cups already.

But hey, we have to be positive in everything.

7-11’s idea is stupid.

Mine’s way better.

Vote for Perlas. And win a kabibe.

~ Personal Stuff ~

I have a lot of blog entries running in my mind. I guess a full-packed schedule and not to mention the needed rest and playing a much more priority computer game would kill my writing lifestyle.

I’m not really bragging here or anything. I know I have flaws with writing. I admit that and I’m not proud of it either. The willing of me writing is way way way below the precedence for the past month. And since I’ll be having a bit more time alone for the next few weeks, I’ll try to go back with my nuisance “career”.

I have to remind myself of the following events I haven’t had time to write about:
-    Hot Air Balloon and Nayong Pilipino trip in Clark.
-    Sebay, La Union surfing trip.
-    Backstreet Boys concert.
-    Rent theatre show.
-    And the Potipot Castillejos, Zambales and Treetop Subic, Zambales trip.

That was the first time that I actually had a month filled with kick-ass activities. I guess if you’re willing to go on a trip, then you can really go and do it.

And that actually killed my so-called hobby of watching films and people picking on their noses. I’m not complaining. I think I need to catch up on my fifteen films a week viewing. I am sure I’ll be able to do some thirty films a week for the upcoming months, hopefully.

I also missed the “Stop-dami” concert last Tuesday and I might miss the “Hari ng 7-11” band. I’m not too keen on the “Lungsod ng Kwago” concert, this one will happen this weekend. I am sure I want to watch “Luha Para Sa Pananakot” this May (?). And I’m still thinking if I should go to “Troso-Lupa” Featuring Justin “Troso-Law” and Jojo.

Also, I am actually officially stopping myself on buying any expensive books. So, that Neil Gaiman visit is officially off in my calendar. I’ll just text him that I won’t go and see him. I mean, duh, we can always do a separate mix-up and give him more inputs, as I was the person who gave him ideas on Stardust, American Gods, and Coraline.

Duh. I am that good.

Oh yeah, I’m still selling my Percy Jackson books one to four for 200 bucks each for the first three books and 240 for the fourth one. They are all soft bound. Or they are bound to be soft. Whatever that means.

Ho-hum. This is the most boringest entry I’ve encountered. I miss action. Makes me wonder if I still want to go to that sad side of the road.

I just realized that I am also having a lot of backlog for my “project 365” blog. Ugh. I can’t force myself to not to have a life. Right?

3.08.2010

~ Oscars 2010 ~

So, the 82nd Annual Academy Awards went… uhm… on.

Yeah... That’s it.

Siriusly, I wasn’t really keen on doing anything that is related with the Oscars for this year. I wasn’t able to ready myself with the event. I have been busy with a lot of things lately.

Ergo, I actually had a life… even for only a month for this year. I’m going back to my usual habits for the next few months, if I can.

Now, the Oscars for this year is not really that wonderful. And I’m just referring with the show. It felt that there was something missing in the show. Or even the fact that the comparison from last year greatly affected the show’s output. I can’t even say that the hosts are awesome, though I have to give credit for the amusing script for the whole show.

Secondly, I grew tired of the Avatar-The Hurt Locker brouhaha. It felt like there were only two contending films for whatever award that was given. I ended up rooting for the Basterds and only got excited with the Best Foreign Film and the Best Actress category.

That’s it.

And here’s another complaint, Hollywood loves to create war films that doesn’t look war-ish or even epic. Remember Jarhead? Come on! We need more films that give us blood and war, there’s Saving Private Ryan or even Schindler’s List. And going back to The Hurt Locker, I’m still trying to find in my mind that this film won over District 9, Inglourious Basterds, or Precious. Let us put it this way, how many of you have seen The Hurt Locker in the year 2009? As early as the last quarter of last year, critics have been raving over this film. BUT, I haven’t heard any ordinary consumer rave over the film when it was shown in our local cinemas last October of 2009.

The Oscars of 2009 didn’t really matter since Slumdog and Benjamin fought for the title. Almost every one was rooting for Benjamin and I was actually rooting for Slumdog all the time. But wait there’s more, Slumdog won and almost every Pinoy hated that film. Sabi nila, kaya daw ng Pinoy yun. So, here’s the real deal, 2008 was unforgettable, that was the time when all the films are possible contenders.

And now, ten nominees? Come on. That was a stupid move. Why would you put Up in the Best Picture category when we all know that there’s a Best Animated Film category already. And it was sort of a given that Up will win due to that simple deal that they did.

And since most of the categories gave us runaway winners, I am just happy that Christoph Waltz won for Best Supporting Actor and Sandra won for the Best Actress category. In addition, I was just shocked that El Secreto De Sus Ojos won over A Prophet and The White Ribbon. I think I have to watch ESDSO, I haz a copy already.

Despite the hello sleepy head show earlier, I’d like to put out some points on what I’ve noticed in the show.

-    Stand-up and the Oscars does not mix. It felt like I was watching one punchline after another and it seemed that it made the show less class. I mean it should’ve been a respected awards show BUT it felt like it is different in a bad way.
-    No chemistry between the two hosts. Despite them being SNL peeps, I think it would’ve been nice if Steve Martin was the only one to host the show or Alec Baldwin with someone of his age. Or something in that sense.
-    Why is George Clooney pikon? Come on.
-    What the hell is Taylor Lautner and Zac Efron doing at the Oscars? Anak ng pating naman.
-    The delivery of some of the presenters went from fair to fail.
-    Then, Miley came. Oh God. I thought I was watching the Razzies.
-    Tina Fey’s outfit is… Me Tarzan You Fey?
-    Thank God Robert Downey Jr presented (with Tina Fey).
-    Nice John Hughes tribute. I thought I saw Kevin Macanister este Mcallister.
-    There was actually a controversy with the Na’vi skit. Originally Sasha Baron Cohen was going to do a skit with Ben Stiller, but it seemed that something went wrong and it eventually just became a stand-up routine. And anything that Stiller does on that stage was funny.
-    I loved Mo’nique’s “It is all about the performance and not the politics”.
-    So, apparently the Oscars had a “Take It Take It” moment… Hello, Sigourney Weaver.
-    One of the stupidest montages ever made was the one in this year’s Oscars. They made a montage for the horror films. They included Twilight? Really? I mean, I read the novel and I know that it corresponds with fantasy and romance. I wasn’t aware that it was meant to be scary. Look at it this way, the researchers of that bit weren’t really aware of the greatest horror scenes in history. Come on, a little bit of research in the Internet and they’ll find good films. Unless of course, if they’d just stick with the ones nominated for Oscars. But The Ring U.S. version nominated for an Oscar? Come on.
-    It was stupid for Oprah to just mention Meryll Streep. Look what happened. Sandra Bullock won. In short, may balat si Oprah.

I have a feeling that the next Oscar’s will be slightly different that what we had this year. I’m just hoping that I’ll have that feel again. If they turn uptight next year, I’ll take it as long na hindi siya mukhang pilit.~ Oscars 2010 ~

Valentine’s Day or the Chinese New Year is about to end.

Can somebody tell me why Valentine’s Day can’t be The Valentine’s Day? I’m not that good with the English language and I wanted to know how the article is affected by the name of that holiday.

And while you’re doing that, listen to Madonna’s Holiday.

Sweet.

--=+=--

So, I have a kwento. It goes like this. You see, I am fond of eating vegetables. I am not a vegetarian but I really do prefer veggies over meat. I enjoy chopsuey and pakbet. I love squash. And usually I end up with a simple dilemma whenever I eat eggplants.

The thing that I hate about eggplants is a random worm that ends up inside the eggplant. I may not know how it ends up in that spot but I know that eggplants taste really good. I usually just close my eyes and pray to God that the eggplant that I am eating doesn’t contain anything that resembles a worm.

Now, it may imply that I might get traumatized with the idea. Why the hell am I eating worms? It happened to me three times already. You know the part when you slice open a cooked eggplant and you found a worm? Yes, it usually happens. And as I’ve said, I get no trauma from it.

I can take it with the simple reason that those worms are probably clean and healthy and full of protein since they eat vegetables.

Now, if you’re talking about worms in meat… that’s a different story.

Given that today is Valentine’s Day, you may want to consider what I’ve just said. Whatever things you “hate” or “irk” from your partner, you may want to reconsider if you’re going to leave that person.

You have to just weigh everything and ask yourself, “is it a veggie or is it meat?”

Random ideas. Ping!

~boring stuff ~

It has been a while since I last wrote something shitty or something that should’ve been part of my “cleansing” for this year. As most resolutions, this one surely lands on the least of the important list. Nonetheless, I know I’ve been trying hard to try and sit down and write but I always opt to stop, look, and plainly listen.

I had a handful of ideas forgotten already, sadly. It doesn’t matter though. I know there are a lot of other things to talk about and maybe, a lot of ideas running in my head; they should stay there, as it should be. Yes, I’m still keeping things private. And I actually got tired of bitching, imagine...

I’ve been a lot tame lately, except for situations where I have to do the usual deed. Let’s put it this way, I sort of lost the confidence and trust.

And that can be mixed with my self-rebuilding for this year. I should always start with myself. Yes, I definitely should do that.

--=+=--

I was able to read a few amusing books lately. I was able to catch The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was really amusing. A children’s book meant for adults? Nah. It felt like it was just like a person’s imaginary blog. Well, I don’t need to expound much on this. No impact was made with my life. I didn’t get a new job or such. So, why bother?

Then, I’m reading the Percy Jackson series. Yes, the first book was really predictable and the sequels proved interesting. It is a very good read and to those people who’re inclined with the myth and shyth, then this is the right read for you. I just have to say that the provisions of the plot twists are quite entertaining.

And here’s what I want to do next, to all those books that I’ve finished reading, I want to sell it. So, I’m selling The Diary of a Wimpy Kid and the first three books of Percy Jackson. All are paperback. Inform me if you want it.

--=+=--

I love this month. I just do.

And I’m not going to dwell with Valentine’s Day. Duh, that’s old news.

(ayan. Nagsulat na ulit aketch. Wee. I’m hoping for something more interesting sa susunod na magkakalat ako dito sa multiply.)

~ Tee Cee ~

Teary-eyed and sentimental, that was what I felt when I was able to catch Conan’s show earlier.

Just to set the record straight, a person’s paycheck is not necessarily that important. It is just how the employer thinks that this person’s worth is. Other than that, there is also your importance to a nation or even to the entire world.

Suffice it to say on how small our roles are or how big Conan’s role is, that last episode gave it all away. He was full of class and for that, I really now respect him as one of the best late night talk show hosts of all time.

Way before, a friend just introduced Conan to me. I was not much of a fan. I love Letterman. I used to watch him when I was still in college. Fast forward to a sort of the present time, I ended up having Jack TV and Jay and Conan provided my nights full. Then, seven months ago Jay supposedly had to step down and give the Tonight Show to Conan. And, heck, it was not the case.

I don’t know about this but I’m finding Leno shameless, I lost respect for the guy. It was history repeating itself all over again. This guy doesn’t want to just step down and look for a new thing for his life. It is just sad that a person such as Conan has to endure something like this.

And with his last monologue, I’m sure people are going to wait for six months on a new TV station and give life back to late night. I’m just hoping that Jack TV picks this one up.

With all the thoughts in my mind lately and a lot of social experiments I guess I am really not in a mood to write anything much lately. All I wanted is a different 2010. I know I should do something about it. And I just don’t want to with all the implications that I might get in the future.

In lieu of that why don’t you just ask me instead: http://www.formspring.me/Targrod

~ crap time ~

Well, that was an interesting day.

Indeed.

I’ll try to sum it all up.

--=+=--

Spiderman went bye bye because of Sam Raimi and the executives (me thinks). The execs want Black Cat and Sam wants the Vulture. I just find it stupid that they bickered on something as stupid as that.

The point of doing this one for all the fans is not really headed there.

And why create a part four when parts two and three sucked?

--=+=--

Showtime, a show that took over Game Ka Na Ba, was recently suspended by MTRCB. One of their judges, Rosanna Roces, made some unsettling statements to all the teachers. Well, it was as simple as this, Rosanna didn’t believe in the teaching system.

She was / is that humble (yes, I am sarcastic to all you non-sarcastic fans out there).

Sadly, ABS-CBN is still the same. They’re weevil.

--=+=--

Plurk, finally, has a ‘liked’ tab.

Talk about being original. So, who cares?

--=+=--

There was a 5.0 magnitude quake yesterday.

Yeah, earthquakes is not that interesting but are you interested with Rico Blanco hitting Gibo regarding his song Imposible and Gibo using it for his campaign ad?

That was really lame for the PR group of Gibo.

And lamer for Miss Nakpil. (don’t ask me more with this one, the moment I hear Rico Blanco, I scream like a little baby.)

--=+=--

And yey for Fatal Posporos playing later at Saguijo.

No, really. (I’m still not sure if I could go. Sad.)

~ Tita Reggie ~

Wow.

It was really heavy lately. I never knew that death affected me so much this day. It was kind of a happy but sad moment but I’m just thanking God that she met Him finally.

One of my mom’s best friends died a few days after New Year. She has been battling cancer for years already and all of her friends and family are probably having the same feeling right now. I think most of the family members have actually accepted her death already.

Kaya ang gaan ng pakiramdam kanina actually dun sa Don Bosco Makati. It was just me who made the feeling heavy.

I do hope it is ok for my mom to post her eulogy for her dearly departed best friend. Here it is:

Farewell to you my friend...

I learned of Reggie's demise last Monday when i opened my email, the first day of work for the year 2010. I was then in a period of denial, no this can't be true! I picked-up the phone and immediately called Cynthia, and in betwwen sobs, it began to sink-in and I was deeply saddened. Then, I dialed my home number to break the news to my husband, and sounded worried, he told me " relax ka lang, gusto ng Diyos na magpahinga na siya." You see, I had just recovered from bouts of deep deppression, as me and my family were survivors of Typhoon Ondoy.

It was my birthday yesterday, and I missed the greetings of my dear friend, Reggie. I woke up today at 2:30 am thinking of her and the moments we shared together at Jardines. I met her in mid 80's. I was hired as a floor planning consultant / designer by Atty. Magnaye. It was Sol Manuel whom I first met, and when she left the company, Reggie and I became close buddies (esp during yosi break). We ate together, laughed together, shopped together, watched the movies together or just told unending stories about our families. We even stood as godmothers to Pareng Bong's son. We went to Baguio & Maya maya several times and called each other on phone as soon as we arrived home from the office. We shared happy and sad moments together.

We lost our parents alternately, one by one. That's why there were times in our lives when we both wore black & white (& gray) dresses for two consecutive years, as a sign of mourning for the passing away of our beloved parents. I was one of the first ones she called when her family met an accident in Bulacan. It was a day after Christmas, but I immediately ran on her bedside and watched her wheeled to the Operating room. I was devastated then, I thought I lost her.

In 1999, after 2 months of recuperating from my hysterectomy operation, I received a letter of retrenchment from Jardine. Of course, it was one of the major events in my life, but I was able to move on. Eventually I work again, and now at Shopwise. I was assigned at various branches but we're now housed at Oppen Bldg. here in Makati. In the early years that I left Jardines, Reggie and I see to it that we see each other and meet occasionally, esp on our birthdays, and Cynthia, Ellen and Claire's birthdays too. I saw how happy she was with the company of Cynthia, Ellen and the rest of the group. In 2003, I developed Glaucoma due to Diabetes. From then on I was refrained to go out alone esp at night as I began to slowly lose my eyesight. In 2005, I celebrated my 50th birthday, and I was so so happy to see Reggie with Cynthia, Claire and Ellen with her hubby. It was a night to remember as we danced the night away.

Sometime in March last year, Cynthia texted me and broke the sad news of Reggie's condition. I cried to God and asked His mercy and guidance. I also learned that she was so worried and tried so hard to find out how we were when Ondoy raged our place in Cainta.

Lord, I will surely miss my friend Reggie. But I know that she's already in the palm of your hands.

Reggie, you know that I love you very much. You’re the best friend I got. It will take another lifetime for me to meet someone like you. FAREWELL TO YOU MY FRIEND...

As promised, this is a new ball year for me.

~ Resolution One ~

Planning for this year is a lot more exciting than being just plain tideous… tide-yos… teedeedeecupDious… exhausting. I think I really do have to be excited for this year. I have to plan more and let my mini-varicose vain move much to the dancing ala Mystika in her heyday.

Or whatever that means.

So, it will be a busy year for me. I am hoping that I would be able to do this more than what I can chew. It will always be awesome that way. While I’m doing this I am actually watching Andres De Saya, an old Cachupoy film. There is a point on why I said this.

I will still be retaining a few hobbits, I’ll write ‘em down after a few paragraphs.

Paragraph 1.

Paragraph 2.

Paragraph 3.

(uy, nagpipilit magpatawa…)

Anyhoo, I will be retaining this blog. I’ll try to post regularly (meaning: weekends). As promised, I’ll be putting in more about myself and some shit beside it. I am also retaining my movie blog, that’s Pinoy Film Zealot (once again, shameless plugging). If you love films and you want to write something about any write-ups in that subject then just inform me that includes film reviews, film news, and anything under the movie sun or movie Ra if you wanna get geeky with me.

Then, I’m starting a new project on the side. This one is quite simple. They’re calling it Project 365 or 366, for the criminally insane for the wicked. The premise is simple. You just take a picture daily. It doesn’t matter if you’re using a camera phone, a high-end phone, web camera, underwater camera, or a stolen camera. You just have to post an image you took (that is from what I fully understand). Just to clear this all up, Tumblr is different, you can post anything under the sun in Tumblr and this P365 is more personal. Now, here’s my dilemma (pag patay ang ilaw, say it with me… “dilemma” kailangan ng ilaw), I am almost midway for January and I just thought of the idea a few days ago. So, I guess I’ll be starting at P350. It doesn’t matter though; ningas cogon wouldn’t kill me in the process.

Here is the reason why I would start late. Last Thursday, I watched the premiere of the Squeakquel courtesy of Astroboy and ODH (muchos gracias mi Rushers) and I ended up losing my cellular phone. I didn’t notice it due to the bulking tetra-bricked drinks inside my pocket (karma much?) Since most of us are actually truly blessed, a lady called my momma and informed her that she has my phone (hooray!) Now, I have to get that phone somewhere in The Fort.

When the usual momma and moi dialogue came up, I told her, “Ma, this is destiny.”

--=+=--

And for the rest of the month, I’ll be coming up with New Year’s resolutions, by tens.
-    I will venture into more physical activities this year. It doesn’t matter if I’ll be doing the same shit every week, as long as I’ll be able to do things weekly. Say hello back to badminton, bowling, and running/jogging.
-    I’ll try to watch a few theatre plays (whatever they call it). I heard that there’s Rent and Cats. I’m planning to watch ‘em.
-    Then, concerts. There’s The Killers, Backstreet Boys, Tears for Fears/Spandau Ballet, Owl City, and Paramore. I’m assuming there’ll be more. I do hope I could watch at three concerts for this year.
-    More traveling. Probably just for this year. Planned for this year are Zambales and Palawan. And a lot of trips in Tagaytay, Subic, and Clark (Hot Air here I come!)
-    I’ll try to watch films that were made from the past decade and a lot of Filipino films. Ergo, I’ll be venturing into film fests. I should really try to go out alone. I’ll minimize old films.
-    More indie/rock and pop music for this year. I found gold in the Internet. Just look for Blalock’s playlists in the Internet. He rocks (pun much intended).
-    A book a month. I think I have to get something easy for this month. It is almost the fifteenth of January already and I haven’t had the heart to read a full fiction.
-    I’ll try to shut up more often and try to listen to other people. It was really weird when I’m kind of quiet in a group and it was actually refreshing. I know this is kind of stupid but I’m not going to be a poser or something. I’ll just try to be a little bit different. Ergo, I’ll be controlling more of my hirits. No, really.
-    Mag:Net CafĂ©. Yes, I wanna go back there and try to enjoy Rockeoke and S.P.I.T. once again.
-    Cooking. I’m still trying to learn the basics and I absolutely enjoy cooking. Why the hell would I watch Janice De Belen’s Spoon at one in the morning?

--=+=--

Are people shying away from New Year’s resolutions? I think people should do this annually. I know you might not follow it but a goal is a goal.

~ Oi chicken! ~

Let’s talk about food first. I can only say that that Komoro Soba has started to get on the good side of the food globe after I first ate there around a time that I can’t fully remember.

(I can only remember people chanting “Pantinilola Pantinilola”. Maybe that was just me. Oooh. Vewwwy Scawwwy.)

Put it this way, I enjoyed their maki and even said “maki na ano kain ko dito ako ubos” in a very racial Japanese way, I muttered. Can I just say that I lurved their rice bowls. I know there’s a corresponding Japanese name for this and I’m definitely sure that it is not kirikiri.

Then, earlier I had some bad food from Teriyaki Boy. I always liked their food but with their prices right now (that’s like almost 800 bucks for two people. Fuck ‘em) and the food that I ordered, I was not that really happy.

There is a simple rule with cooking beef. If you’re going to include those fatty beef in a customer’s bowl. Be sure to squeeze out all the mantika out of the meat before serving it.

(hindi po masarap ang ulam na lasang mantika. Buti na lang talaga nag-eenjoy ako palagi sa kahit na anong Miso soup.)

And yeah, I don’t enjoy curry. I also used to enjoy Mariah, but not today.

--=+=--

Can I just say that Floyd Mayweather is a freakin’ coward?

Shit.

(puro ka lang pala yabang.)

I just don’t get his point. In boxing history, that was the first time I’ve heard of that bullshit. If a person is really using dope for this strength and power then you’re saying that the world boxing commission is a lame duck and you know more about boxing.

(sabi nga sa Harold and Kumar, “The universe tends to unfold as it should.” He’ll get what he deserves in the future.)

~ Teh Murdars ~

I know I should post this one on PFZ, but but (and another but), I ended up doing this thingy in this area of the Internet.

Just weeks before the 2009 MMFF, I promised myself to watch all the films that are going to be shown on our local theaters. Alas! With the utmost laziness that I have carried all throughout these years, I ended up watching nothing and nada (two films na yun bale).

It just occurred to me to just watch those films on television or even just download a pirated version. We all knew that Wapakman is a piece of shit. I heard that I Love You, Goodbye is quite impressive at its first half. Panday is CGI crazy and let’s leave it at that. SRR turned comedy (and anak ng ewan naman, hindi pa din ba natatanggap ng mga movie people na hindi marunong umarte si Iya Villania?) The one with Vic Sotto didn’t gather much attention; I really do think that they just do another sequel of Elvis And James or even a crossover of Indiana Dundee and She-man. I’m actually tired of the Mano Po series. And I forgot the seventh film; maybe that film is really forgettable, don’t you think?

All I can say is I am just a member of the willing. I am just not that active.

--=+=--

I have a great feeling that this is a year of music for me. I really do want to watch ‘Ang Pumapatay’. The tickets doesn’t sound high-fallutin’, which is actually good. I do know that MOA is such a very very far away place from ours. Ugh.

So, anyone had the glorious time of listening to all the albums of that band? Me thinks I have to get ready.

I don’t want to have a Tim Yap moment.

--=+=--

Have you guys tried Whittaker? It’s a brand of chocolate that came from the ‘galing sa dodo ng cow’, New Zealand. I had the luck of tasting a bar and it is pure heaven.

Basically, if you’re going to New Zealand and plans to come back in our cheaply priced medicine services, then, you might want to contact me and tell me that you have a gift for me and it starts with the letter W.

Oh look, my posts are becoming a little wee bit egoistic already.

I love 2010.

~ First Time ~

2010 is definitely the right time to change a few things in this site. Number one on the list is obviously the layout. I have to give some ample time for this. It is either the perfectionist in me that is kicking in or just simply I’m too lazy to look for a good site.

Number two, I’ll do more of me for this year. I’ll lessen the clutter and try to stick more on what is happening to me and at the same time, it would be easier for me to do end of year reports. I realized that this should really contain more of me and not what is happening around me. That should just be a secondary.

Number three, I’m changing the title. It is no biggie. Really.

Number four, I’ll still try to kick off a lot of punch lines for this year. I really do think that humor helps the heart from depression. Of course, I have to deal with the problem but humor really helps. Hask Hathena Hamorsolo-Hignacio. Go figure.

And number five, I’ll try to feature suggestions in terms of food, gadgets, and other things that people might find interesting.

--=+=--

My mom’s birthday is on the sixth and I already gave her gift by going to the RX booth (yey!) I know no one’s going to bring her there, so why not let her meet her favorite DJ’s.

Just a small intro: I’ve been active with in The Morning Rush lately. I attended a big EB last December and I’ve been mingling with no tingling with the rushers. Define the group with one word: Very Crazy (Ok kids, this is the time to look for the punch line. Don’t blame me if you’re stupid. It is there. Stupid.)

A very big thank you to Chico and Delamar for the warm greet; sabi nga ni mama, ang saya saya kahit sa loob ng booth ng RX.

--=+=--

The fireworks we got for this year were acquired from the WOW fireworks people. Their logo looks exactly like the videoke mic series (Manny P. Intro: Sa ekstreeem madyekkk senggg) WOW Magic Sing.

Here’s a suggestion, why don’t they just steal the logo of Starbucks and change the name to Starburst.

Not really a suggestion, but just a figment of my imagination.

Anyhoo, don’t buy the 600+ version if you’re planning to buy this brand next year. Try the 800+ ones. Good boom!

Also, it didn’t rain on New Year’s Eve. Hooray for the dry roads. Even the humps too! (So, bale dry hump na siya.) The boa (oo, yung sawa) was successful.

--=+=--

The Post New Year Annual Choir Second Reunion or the Poneyeanchosere (I just invented this, it looks stupid) was successful again for this year. Hooray for that. Even if we have two baby boomers and a lot of people are not in the Philippines, we were able to push it through with food, booze, and cross-stitching (no really, don’t try to pull some punch lines, not that pun-ny.)

--=+=--

And I really do have to remind myself to be ready whenever there’s a Gamboa reunion. The generation before us is so bastos that compared to Joey De Leon, he’s wearing a halo. (Oh! Dapat may background song ni Beyonce… Paano kung bisaya si Beyonce? Helo … Helo… Helo…)

--=+=--

And hi to the witches who I met after the reunion!

Mas sexy pa din ako sa inyo. Hahaha! =)
