So, this is written in the Philippine Star today,

“Directed by Danny Boyle, who had never really done other important films in the past – unless you consider Trainspotting truly significant…”

Hay, really Mr. Butch Francisco?

Trainspotting is not that important? Righhhhhhtt…

Currently, Trainspotting is at number 168 in Imdb’s top 250 films of all time, having 126,351 votes. This movie won and was nominated with a lot of awards including a Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium nomination, where Sling Blade was the winner for this category.

It is one of the most memorable movies of the nineties alongside Run Lola Run and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. And this is one of the movies where Ewan Mcgregor showed his pee-pee.

I love Trainspotting and that’s why I am reacting this way.

And there’s 28 Days Later… where it was nominated again and won a few awards worldwide. This movie is awesome, I say.

Also, there’s Sunshine, which I found sucky but not for most people who has an average vote of 7.3 in IMDB and this movie was also nominated for a few award giving bodies.

Don’t forget the movie, The Beach. Oh, you all know this movie. The one with pretty boy Leo, this may not be significant as important because some people might not get it. And it is utterly weird that I’m protecting Leonardo Dicaprio. Ugh.

Despite a very ugly Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise, you can still say that this director has a few notable movies in his hand. He just went big with Slumdog because this is the time for Bollywood.

I completely agree with your column about Slumdog but that’s about it. We don’t need to bring down a movie just to increase our own. There is a lot of rehabilitation needed with our dying industry and we don’t need to go sour-graping with this instance. Aren’t we glad that, technically, Oscars went Asian?

This might pave way for us or even the South Koreans and other Asian countries that can make it big globally.

I just don’t like it when there’s not much research of an article in a newspaper.

Imagine, hindi daw ganun ka-significant ang Trainspotting. E ang Pinas lang naman ang may problema sa mga lecheng ratings na yan e. Hindi pa ganun ka-advanced ang artistry sa atin. Marami pa ding bawal. Look at the SM malls. Diba may ruling sila na bawal ang Rated-R sa mga movie houses nila. Kaya nga putol putol ang Watchmen e.

Ang sisihin nyo yung mga distributors, isa lang naman ang isasagot niyan sa inyo, “the Filipino people might not get it, malulugi tayo nyan…”

At ngayon nagtataka ang gobyerno natin kung bakit talamak pa din ang piracy sa bansa.

Langya, i-bash ba naman ang Trainspotting ko. Hmp.
