~ Tee Cee ~

Teary-eyed and sentimental, that was what I felt when I was able to catch Conan’s show earlier.

Just to set the record straight, a person’s paycheck is not necessarily that important. It is just how the employer thinks that this person’s worth is. Other than that, there is also your importance to a nation or even to the entire world.

Suffice it to say on how small our roles are or how big Conan’s role is, that last episode gave it all away. He was full of class and for that, I really now respect him as one of the best late night talk show hosts of all time.

Way before, a friend just introduced Conan to me. I was not much of a fan. I love Letterman. I used to watch him when I was still in college. Fast forward to a sort of the present time, I ended up having Jack TV and Jay and Conan provided my nights full. Then, seven months ago Jay supposedly had to step down and give the Tonight Show to Conan. And, heck, it was not the case.

I don’t know about this but I’m finding Leno shameless, I lost respect for the guy. It was history repeating itself all over again. This guy doesn’t want to just step down and look for a new thing for his life. It is just sad that a person such as Conan has to endure something like this.

And with his last monologue, I’m sure people are going to wait for six months on a new TV station and give life back to late night. I’m just hoping that Jack TV picks this one up.

With all the thoughts in my mind lately and a lot of social experiments I guess I am really not in a mood to write anything much lately. All I wanted is a different 2010. I know I should do something about it. And I just don’t want to with all the implications that I might get in the future.

In lieu of that why don’t you just ask me instead: http://www.formspring.me/Targrod

~ crap time ~

Well, that was an interesting day.

Indeed.

I’ll try to sum it all up.

--=+=--

Spiderman went bye bye because of Sam Raimi and the executives (me thinks). The execs want Black Cat and Sam wants the Vulture. I just find it stupid that they bickered on something as stupid as that.

The point of doing this one for all the fans is not really headed there.

And why create a part four when parts two and three sucked?

--=+=--

Showtime, a show that took over Game Ka Na Ba, was recently suspended by MTRCB. One of their judges, Rosanna Roces, made some unsettling statements to all the teachers. Well, it was as simple as this, Rosanna didn’t believe in the teaching system.

She was / is that humble (yes, I am sarcastic to all you non-sarcastic fans out there).

Sadly, ABS-CBN is still the same. They’re weevil.

--=+=--

Plurk, finally, has a ‘liked’ tab.

Talk about being original. So, who cares?

--=+=--

There was a 5.0 magnitude quake yesterday.

Yeah, earthquakes is not that interesting but are you interested with Rico Blanco hitting Gibo regarding his song Imposible and Gibo using it for his campaign ad?

That was really lame for the PR group of Gibo.

And lamer for Miss Nakpil. (don’t ask me more with this one, the moment I hear Rico Blanco, I scream like a little baby.)

--=+=--

And yey for Fatal Posporos playing later at Saguijo.

No, really. (I’m still not sure if I could go. Sad.)

~ Tita Reggie ~

Wow.

It was really heavy lately. I never knew that death affected me so much this day. It was kind of a happy but sad moment but I’m just thanking God that she met Him finally.

One of my mom’s best friends died a few days after New Year. She has been battling cancer for years already and all of her friends and family are probably having the same feeling right now. I think most of the family members have actually accepted her death already.

Kaya ang gaan ng pakiramdam kanina actually dun sa Don Bosco Makati. It was just me who made the feeling heavy.

I do hope it is ok for my mom to post her eulogy for her dearly departed best friend. Here it is:

Farewell to you my friend...

I learned of Reggie's demise last Monday when i opened my email, the first day of work for the year 2010. I was then in a period of denial, no this can't be true! I picked-up the phone and immediately called Cynthia, and in betwwen sobs, it began to sink-in and I was deeply saddened. Then, I dialed my home number to break the news to my husband, and sounded worried, he told me " relax ka lang, gusto ng Diyos na magpahinga na siya." You see, I had just recovered from bouts of deep deppression, as me and my family were survivors of Typhoon Ondoy.

It was my birthday yesterday, and I missed the greetings of my dear friend, Reggie. I woke up today at 2:30 am thinking of her and the moments we shared together at Jardines. I met her in mid 80's. I was hired as a floor planning consultant / designer by Atty. Magnaye. It was Sol Manuel whom I first met, and when she left the company, Reggie and I became close buddies (esp during yosi break). We ate together, laughed together, shopped together, watched the movies together or just told unending stories about our families. We even stood as godmothers to Pareng Bong's son. We went to Baguio & Maya maya several times and called each other on phone as soon as we arrived home from the office. We shared happy and sad moments together.

We lost our parents alternately, one by one. That's why there were times in our lives when we both wore black & white (& gray) dresses for two consecutive years, as a sign of mourning for the passing away of our beloved parents. I was one of the first ones she called when her family met an accident in Bulacan. It was a day after Christmas, but I immediately ran on her bedside and watched her wheeled to the Operating room. I was devastated then, I thought I lost her.

In 1999, after 2 months of recuperating from my hysterectomy operation, I received a letter of retrenchment from Jardine. Of course, it was one of the major events in my life, but I was able to move on. Eventually I work again, and now at Shopwise. I was assigned at various branches but we're now housed at Oppen Bldg. here in Makati. In the early years that I left Jardines, Reggie and I see to it that we see each other and meet occasionally, esp on our birthdays, and Cynthia, Ellen and Claire's birthdays too. I saw how happy she was with the company of Cynthia, Ellen and the rest of the group. In 2003, I developed Glaucoma due to Diabetes. From then on I was refrained to go out alone esp at night as I began to slowly lose my eyesight. In 2005, I celebrated my 50th birthday, and I was so so happy to see Reggie with Cynthia, Claire and Ellen with her hubby. It was a night to remember as we danced the night away.

Sometime in March last year, Cynthia texted me and broke the sad news of Reggie's condition. I cried to God and asked His mercy and guidance. I also learned that she was so worried and tried so hard to find out how we were when Ondoy raged our place in Cainta.

Lord, I will surely miss my friend Reggie. But I know that she's already in the palm of your hands.

Reggie, you know that I love you very much. You’re the best friend I got. It will take another lifetime for me to meet someone like you. FAREWELL TO YOU MY FRIEND...

As promised, this is a new ball year for me.

~ Resolution One ~

Planning for this year is a lot more exciting than being just plain tideous… tide-yos… teedeedeecupDious… exhausting. I think I really do have to be excited for this year. I have to plan more and let my mini-varicose vain move much to the dancing ala Mystika in her heyday.

Or whatever that means.

So, it will be a busy year for me. I am hoping that I would be able to do this more than what I can chew. It will always be awesome that way. While I’m doing this I am actually watching Andres De Saya, an old Cachupoy film. There is a point on why I said this.

I will still be retaining a few hobbits, I’ll write ‘em down after a few paragraphs.

Paragraph 1.

Paragraph 2.

Paragraph 3.

(uy, nagpipilit magpatawa…)

Anyhoo, I will be retaining this blog. I’ll try to post regularly (meaning: weekends). As promised, I’ll be putting in more about myself and some shit beside it. I am also retaining my movie blog, that’s Pinoy Film Zealot (once again, shameless plugging). If you love films and you want to write something about any write-ups in that subject then just inform me that includes film reviews, film news, and anything under the movie sun or movie Ra if you wanna get geeky with me.

Then, I’m starting a new project on the side. This one is quite simple. They’re calling it Project 365 or 366, for the criminally insane for the wicked. The premise is simple. You just take a picture daily. It doesn’t matter if you’re using a camera phone, a high-end phone, web camera, underwater camera, or a stolen camera. You just have to post an image you took (that is from what I fully understand). Just to clear this all up, Tumblr is different, you can post anything under the sun in Tumblr and this P365 is more personal. Now, here’s my dilemma (pag patay ang ilaw, say it with me… “dilemma” kailangan ng ilaw), I am almost midway for January and I just thought of the idea a few days ago. So, I guess I’ll be starting at P350. It doesn’t matter though; ningas cogon wouldn’t kill me in the process.

Here is the reason why I would start late. Last Thursday, I watched the premiere of the Squeakquel courtesy of Astroboy and ODH (muchos gracias mi Rushers) and I ended up losing my cellular phone. I didn’t notice it due to the bulking tetra-bricked drinks inside my pocket (karma much?) Since most of us are actually truly blessed, a lady called my momma and informed her that she has my phone (hooray!) Now, I have to get that phone somewhere in The Fort.

When the usual momma and moi dialogue came up, I told her, “Ma, this is destiny.”

--=+=--

And for the rest of the month, I’ll be coming up with New Year’s resolutions, by tens.
-    I will venture into more physical activities this year. It doesn’t matter if I’ll be doing the same shit every week, as long as I’ll be able to do things weekly. Say hello back to badminton, bowling, and running/jogging.
-    I’ll try to watch a few theatre plays (whatever they call it). I heard that there’s Rent and Cats. I’m planning to watch ‘em.
-    Then, concerts. There’s The Killers, Backstreet Boys, Tears for Fears/Spandau Ballet, Owl City, and Paramore. I’m assuming there’ll be more. I do hope I could watch at three concerts for this year.
-    More traveling. Probably just for this year. Planned for this year are Zambales and Palawan. And a lot of trips in Tagaytay, Subic, and Clark (Hot Air here I come!)
-    I’ll try to watch films that were made from the past decade and a lot of Filipino films. Ergo, I’ll be venturing into film fests. I should really try to go out alone. I’ll minimize old films.
-    More indie/rock and pop music for this year. I found gold in the Internet. Just look for Blalock’s playlists in the Internet. He rocks (pun much intended).
-    A book a month. I think I have to get something easy for this month. It is almost the fifteenth of January already and I haven’t had the heart to read a full fiction.
-    I’ll try to shut up more often and try to listen to other people. It was really weird when I’m kind of quiet in a group and it was actually refreshing. I know this is kind of stupid but I’m not going to be a poser or something. I’ll just try to be a little bit different. Ergo, I’ll be controlling more of my hirits. No, really.
-    Mag:Net CafĂ©. Yes, I wanna go back there and try to enjoy Rockeoke and S.P.I.T. once again.
-    Cooking. I’m still trying to learn the basics and I absolutely enjoy cooking. Why the hell would I watch Janice De Belen’s Spoon at one in the morning?

--=+=--

Are people shying away from New Year’s resolutions? I think people should do this annually. I know you might not follow it but a goal is a goal.

~ Oi chicken! ~

Let’s talk about food first. I can only say that that Komoro Soba has started to get on the good side of the food globe after I first ate there around a time that I can’t fully remember.

(I can only remember people chanting “Pantinilola Pantinilola”. Maybe that was just me. Oooh. Vewwwy Scawwwy.)

Put it this way, I enjoyed their maki and even said “maki na ano kain ko dito ako ubos” in a very racial Japanese way, I muttered. Can I just say that I lurved their rice bowls. I know there’s a corresponding Japanese name for this and I’m definitely sure that it is not kirikiri.

Then, earlier I had some bad food from Teriyaki Boy. I always liked their food but with their prices right now (that’s like almost 800 bucks for two people. Fuck ‘em) and the food that I ordered, I was not that really happy.

There is a simple rule with cooking beef. If you’re going to include those fatty beef in a customer’s bowl. Be sure to squeeze out all the mantika out of the meat before serving it.

(hindi po masarap ang ulam na lasang mantika. Buti na lang talaga nag-eenjoy ako palagi sa kahit na anong Miso soup.)

And yeah, I don’t enjoy curry. I also used to enjoy Mariah, but not today.

--=+=--

Can I just say that Floyd Mayweather is a freakin’ coward?

Shit.

(puro ka lang pala yabang.)

I just don’t get his point. In boxing history, that was the first time I’ve heard of that bullshit. If a person is really using dope for this strength and power then you’re saying that the world boxing commission is a lame duck and you know more about boxing.

(sabi nga sa Harold and Kumar, “The universe tends to unfold as it should.” He’ll get what he deserves in the future.)

~ Teh Murdars ~

I know I should post this one on PFZ, but but (and another but), I ended up doing this thingy in this area of the Internet.

Just weeks before the 2009 MMFF, I promised myself to watch all the films that are going to be shown on our local theaters. Alas! With the utmost laziness that I have carried all throughout these years, I ended up watching nothing and nada (two films na yun bale).

It just occurred to me to just watch those films on television or even just download a pirated version. We all knew that Wapakman is a piece of shit. I heard that I Love You, Goodbye is quite impressive at its first half. Panday is CGI crazy and let’s leave it at that. SRR turned comedy (and anak ng ewan naman, hindi pa din ba natatanggap ng mga movie people na hindi marunong umarte si Iya Villania?) The one with Vic Sotto didn’t gather much attention; I really do think that they just do another sequel of Elvis And James or even a crossover of Indiana Dundee and She-man. I’m actually tired of the Mano Po series. And I forgot the seventh film; maybe that film is really forgettable, don’t you think?

All I can say is I am just a member of the willing. I am just not that active.

--=+=--

I have a great feeling that this is a year of music for me. I really do want to watch ‘Ang Pumapatay’. The tickets doesn’t sound high-fallutin’, which is actually good. I do know that MOA is such a very very far away place from ours. Ugh.

So, anyone had the glorious time of listening to all the albums of that band? Me thinks I have to get ready.

I don’t want to have a Tim Yap moment.

--=+=--

Have you guys tried Whittaker? It’s a brand of chocolate that came from the ‘galing sa dodo ng cow’, New Zealand. I had the luck of tasting a bar and it is pure heaven.

Basically, if you’re going to New Zealand and plans to come back in our cheaply priced medicine services, then, you might want to contact me and tell me that you have a gift for me and it starts with the letter W.

Oh look, my posts are becoming a little wee bit egoistic already.

I love 2010.

~ First Time ~

2010 is definitely the right time to change a few things in this site. Number one on the list is obviously the layout. I have to give some ample time for this. It is either the perfectionist in me that is kicking in or just simply I’m too lazy to look for a good site.

Number two, I’ll do more of me for this year. I’ll lessen the clutter and try to stick more on what is happening to me and at the same time, it would be easier for me to do end of year reports. I realized that this should really contain more of me and not what is happening around me. That should just be a secondary.

Number three, I’m changing the title. It is no biggie. Really.

Number four, I’ll still try to kick off a lot of punch lines for this year. I really do think that humor helps the heart from depression. Of course, I have to deal with the problem but humor really helps. Hask Hathena Hamorsolo-Hignacio. Go figure.

And number five, I’ll try to feature suggestions in terms of food, gadgets, and other things that people might find interesting.

--=+=--

My mom’s birthday is on the sixth and I already gave her gift by going to the RX booth (yey!) I know no one’s going to bring her there, so why not let her meet her favorite DJ’s.

Just a small intro: I’ve been active with in The Morning Rush lately. I attended a big EB last December and I’ve been mingling with no tingling with the rushers. Define the group with one word: Very Crazy (Ok kids, this is the time to look for the punch line. Don’t blame me if you’re stupid. It is there. Stupid.)

A very big thank you to Chico and Delamar for the warm greet; sabi nga ni mama, ang saya saya kahit sa loob ng booth ng RX.

--=+=--

The fireworks we got for this year were acquired from the WOW fireworks people. Their logo looks exactly like the videoke mic series (Manny P. Intro: Sa ekstreeem madyekkk senggg) WOW Magic Sing.

Here’s a suggestion, why don’t they just steal the logo of Starbucks and change the name to Starburst.

Not really a suggestion, but just a figment of my imagination.

Anyhoo, don’t buy the 600+ version if you’re planning to buy this brand next year. Try the 800+ ones. Good boom!

Also, it didn’t rain on New Year’s Eve. Hooray for the dry roads. Even the humps too! (So, bale dry hump na siya.) The boa (oo, yung sawa) was successful.

--=+=--

The Post New Year Annual Choir Second Reunion or the Poneyeanchosere (I just invented this, it looks stupid) was successful again for this year. Hooray for that. Even if we have two baby boomers and a lot of people are not in the Philippines, we were able to push it through with food, booze, and cross-stitching (no really, don’t try to pull some punch lines, not that pun-ny.)

--=+=--

And I really do have to remind myself to be ready whenever there’s a Gamboa reunion. The generation before us is so bastos that compared to Joey De Leon, he’s wearing a halo. (Oh! Dapat may background song ni Beyonce… Paano kung bisaya si Beyonce? Helo … Helo… Helo…)

--=+=--

And hi to the witches who I met after the reunion!

Mas sexy pa din ako sa inyo. Hahaha! =)
